Safety in Bermuda

Tips when travelling

Bermuda is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:

Keep a close eye on your belongings, as theft from unattended baggage and rental scooters is common.

Do not drink alcohol in public outside of licensed bars or restaurants.

Avoid walking in quieter, darker streets after dark for your safety.

Be aware that there are no topless or nude beaches, and going topless in public is illegal.

Take great care if you hire a scooter, as accidents with cars are common and can be serious.

Bonus tips:

Swim cautiously as many beaches have strong rip currents, and locals often avoid swimming until late May.

You cannot drive a car as a tourist, so use buses, ferries, or taxis which are generally safe and efficient.
