You must carry your passport when travelling between the islands as each handles immigration separately.

You must declare any goods that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty.

You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a country listed as a transmission risk.

Good to know:

When returning to the UK, British citizens must carry a valid British passport or certificate of entitlement.

You will be denied entry if you try to use a passport reported as lost or stolen.

Safety in Caribbean Netherlands

Tips when travelling

Caribbean Netherlands is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:

You must always carry a form of identification, such as a copy of your passport.

Keep your valuables secure and out of sight to avoid petty theft and street crime.

Avoid isolated areas, including beaches, after dark to protect yourself from crime.

Never leave your bags unattended due to the risk of drug smuggling in the region.

You can use a UK photocard driving licence to drive in these islands.

Bonus tips:

When driving, note that hire car companies often require a year of driving experience and a higher minimum age.

Negotiate the price before taking a taxi as most do not have meters and check it's registered.
