Entry requirements for Cyprus

What British travellers need to know

UK nationals do not need a visa to visit Cyprus for tourism for up to 90 days.

Your passport must have been issued less than 10 years before your arrival date and must be valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave.

Ensure your passport has at least one blank page for an entry or exit stamp.

Be prepared to show a return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds for your stay at border control.

Make sure your passport is stamped on entry and exit, and if it is missing a stamp, show evidence like boarding passes to have it corrected.

Good to know:

If you travel to the north of Cyprus, the time spent there counts towards your 90-day visa-free total for the whole island.

You cannot take meat, milk, or products containing them into Cyprus, with exceptions for specific baby foods and medical pet feed.

Safety in Cyprus

Tips when travelling

Cyprus is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:

Keep your passport, money, and valuables safe as theft can occur.

Buy your own drinks and keep them in sight to avoid drink spiking.

Avoid taking photographs near military buildings as this could lead to arrest.

Follow warning signs and only swim on approved beaches due to potential strong waves and currents.

Check hire vehicles are in good condition and never hand over your passport as a deposit to rental companies.

Bonus tips:

Be aware that Cyprus has a strictly enforced zero-tolerance policy on illegal drugs, including laughing gas and cannabis.

If you hire a moped or quad bike, note that you will have to pay for any damage as insurance often only covers third parties.

Generally, Cyprus has good healthcare facilities. No specific vaccinations are required for entry. However, it's always recommended to consult your doctor regarding necessary vaccinations and health precautions before travelling.
