What British travellers need to know
Your passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after you arrive in Fiji.
You do not need a visa for visits of up to 4 months.
At border control, you must show an onward or return ticket.

You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a country listed as a transmission risk.
Good to know:
They will confiscate most fresh foodstuffs in your luggage unless you're arriving from a country with a quarantine agreement with Fiji.

Tips when travelling
Fiji is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Be careful of your belongings in cities and tourist destinations as petty theft is common.
Avoid leaving your belongings unattended and keep car windows and doors locked when driving.
Take extra care when walking at night, particularly if you are a woman travelling alone.
Be aware of the risk of drink spiking and methanol poisoning in alcoholic drinks.
Only swim from beaches with lifeguards due to dangerous rip tides along reefs.
Possession of any amount of marijuana can lead to a three-month prison sentence.

Cover your shoulders and knees in rural villages and during kava ceremonies.
Check a boat operator's credentials before travelling between islands as overloaded vessels are dangerous.
