Safety in Grenada
Tips when travelling
Grenada is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Do not dress in camouflage clothing, as it is illegal for anyone, including children.
Be aware that currents can be strong at beaches, and not all have lifeguards, so get local advice before swimming.
Agree the taxi fare in local currency with the driver before you set off to avoid being overcharged.
Make sure your accommodation is secure, including if you're staying on a yacht.
Avoid isolated areas, including beaches, after dark.
Bonus tips:
If you plan to drive, you must have a temporary Grenadian driving licence and show your UK driving licence.
Keep car doors locked when driving and do not stop if flagged down by pedestrians.
