Entry requirements for Seychelles
What British travellers need to know
You do not need a visa, but you must get a travel authorisation online before you travel.
Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay in Seychelles.
On arrival you will get a visitor's permit for 3 months, which can be extended up to a maximum of 12 months.
When applying for the travel authorisation, you need to show you have a valid return ticket, confirmed accommodation, and sufficient funds.
At border control you may need to show proof of travel insurance covering potential health costs.
Good to know:
If you are bringing cash equivalent to 50,000 Seychellois rupees or more, you must declare this when you apply for your travel authorisation.
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are arriving from a country listed as a transmission risk.
Safety in Seychelles
Tips when travelling
Seychelles is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Store valuables in a hotel safe and do not leave them in your car or on display to avoid opportunistic theft.
Avoid walking alone in isolated areas, especially in Beau Vallon and the back streets of Victoria at night.
Do not carry or use any illegal drugs as penalties are severe, including life imprisonment and long prosecution times.
Do not sunbathe nude as it is not accepted and likely to cause offence in Seychelles.
When taking a taxi without a meter, always agree on the fare before starting your journey to avoid disputes.
Bonus tips:
Beaches can be unsafe for swimming depending on the season and coast, so ask for local advice before swimming.
Hire car companies often require a year of driving experience, a higher minimum age, and an international driving permit.

Health in Seychelles
Make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical expenses, including emergency repatriation. Check that it covers all your planned activities. While the UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is useful in Europe, it is not valid in Seychelles.
Consult your doctor well in advance of your trip to discuss necessary vaccinations and health precautions. Dengue fever is present in Seychelles. Protect yourself from mosquito bites by using repellent, wearing long sleeves and trousers, and staying in accommodations with mosquito screens or air conditioning. Tap water is generally considered safe to drink, but bottled water is readily available and recommended, especially when first arriving.

Credit and debit cards are accepted in major hotels, restaurants, and shops, especially in tourist areas. Smaller establishments may only accept cash.
