Entry requirements for Austria
Your passport must be issued less than 10 years before you arrive.
Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area.
You can stay in Austria without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism.
At border control, be prepared to show proof of accommodation, travel insurance, a return ticket, and sufficient funds.
Be prepared for extra time at border controls for the new Entry/Exit System registration of fingerprints and a photo.

Check for temporary border controls if travelling into Austria via Germany's land borders.
You cannot take meat, milk, or products containing them into Austria, with a few exceptions like baby food.
Safety in Austria
Austria is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
You must always carry your passport or be able to get it quickly, as a UK driving licence is not accepted as official ID.
Be aware of pickpocketing in big city centres and parks, especially on public transport and in crowded areas.
You could receive a fine of up to 150 euros for wearing clothing that covers your face in public.
You could get an on-the-spot fine between 100 and 500 euros if you do not validate your ticket before a public transport journey.
Be careful with drinks in bars as they can be stronger than in the UK and there is a risk of drink spiking and subsequent robbery or assault.

Using, possessing, or smuggling illegal drugs carries severe penalties including long jail sentences and heavy fines.
If you drive on Austrian motorways, you must display a vignette (sticker) on your windscreen to avoid a fine.
