Entry requirements for Thailand
You can visit Thailand for tourism for 60 days, and this visa can be extended for another 30 days.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date and have at least one blank page.
You must complete a digital arrival card online up to 3 days before arriving in Thailand, effective from 1 May 2025.
If you overstay your visa, you face a daily fine and risk detention, deportation, or a re-entry ban.
Dual nationals should leave Thailand using the same passport they used to enter to avoid immigration problems.
Good to know:
If you are travelling from a yellow fever transmission risk country, you must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Thailand.
It is illegal to take more than 200 cigarettes per person into Thailand, and going over the limit risks a large fine and confiscation.
Safety in Thailand
Thailand is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Carry your valuables and cash securely to guard against pickpocketing, especially from motorbike bag-snatchers.
Do not hand over your passport as a guarantee to businesses like motorcycle or jet-ski rentals.
Do not leave your drinks unattended in bars, as drink spiking and sexual assaults are common in tourist areas.
Be aware that alcoholic drinks in Thailand can contain deadly methanol, which you cannot identify by taste or smell.
It is illegal to possess or use any vape, e-cigarette, or heat-not-burn device, and doing so can lead to heavy fines or detention.
Bonus tips:
Always wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle, as it is required by law and Thailand has a high rate of traffic fatalities.
Take care when swimming, as strong riptides can occur, and always obey red flags and warning signs on beaches.

Health in Thailand
Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical expenses, including repatriation, as health care in Thailand can be expensive. GHIC/EHIC is not applicable in Thailand.
No vaccinations required
Talk to your doctor about recommended vaccinations and malaria prevention before traveling to Thailand. Dengue fever is also a risk, so take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Be aware of food and water hygiene to avoid traveller's diarrhea.
