Karamay is an inland city of around 260,000 people in north-western China’s Xinjiang region. Its position gives it a continental climate, with cold winters and warm summers rather than the milder conditions found on China’s coast.
Travellers arriving by air can use Wuerhe Airport (WRH) or Karamay Guhai Airport (KRY). There are no notable beaches within 40 kilometres, so Karamay is better suited to an inland city break than a beach trip.
