Sapporo Travel Guide
Japan
Sapporo is a large city on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, with a population of 2,666,112. It is one of Japan’s main urban centres in the north, with a distinct four-season climate and cold, snowy winters.
Most visitors arrive via New Chitose Airport (CTS), the main airport serving the city, or Sapporo Okadama Airport (OKD). There are no notable named beaches within 40 kilometres of Sapporo, so the city is better suited to urban and inland trips than a beach holiday.
