Entry requirements for Malta
Your passport's issue date must be less than 10 years old on the day you arrive.
Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area.
You can stay visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for tourism or visiting family.
At border control, you may need to show a return ticket and proof of sufficient funds for your stay.
Be prepared to register fingerprints and a photo under the Entry/Exit System (EES) on first entry to the Schengen area.
Good to know:
You must have a yellow fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a country listed as a transmission risk.
You cannot bring meat, milk, or products containing them into Malta, with limited exceptions like baby food.
Safety in Malta
Malta is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:
Pickpocketing can happen on crowded buses between Valletta and St Julian's, so always keep sight of your valuables.
In bars and clubs, especially in Paceville, be careful who you buy drinks from and keep your drink in sight to avoid spiking.
Do not carry large amounts of cash, keep valuables in separate places, and leave a copy of your passport in a safe location.
Smoking cannabis in public is illegal and attracts a fine, even though personal use at home is legal for residents.
Take care when swimming in the sea, supervise children closely, and obey the lifeguard flag system on beaches.

Do not dive into unknown water or swim at beaches where a river runs into the sea due to the risk of hidden rocks, shallow depths, or strong currents.
