Safety in Mauritius
Mauritius is tourist-friendly but has some key cultural and legal rules:

Carry your passport or driving licence, as police may ask for identification.

Health in Mauritius
It is essential to have comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical expenses, including repatriation. Ensure your policy covers all planned activities. While Mauritius is not in the EU, so a UK GHIC or EHIC card won't be applicable, adequate travel insurance is a must.
No vaccinations required
Consult your doctor or a travel clinic for the most up-to-date health advice and recommended vaccinations before travelling to Mauritius. Mosquito-borne diseases are present, so take precautions to avoid mosquito bites (DEET repellent, long sleeves/trousers, mosquito nets). Tap water is generally considered safe to drink, but bottled water is recommended, especially for those with sensitive stomachs. Food safety standards are generally good, but exercise normal precautions.

Entry Requirements
Travellers who have been in Uganda within the previous 21 days are no longer covered by Mauritius’s listed Ebola entry ban.
Travellers from Uganda are no longer covered by the listed mandatory 21-day Ebola quarantine.
Non-Mauritian nationals who have travelled from Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan within the preceding 21 days and do not hold a valid work, residence, occupation permit, business or student visa are now not allowed to enter Mauritius.
Mauritian nationals and non-Mauritians with valid permits/visas who have travelled from, transited through, or been in Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan within the preceding 21 days are now subject to a 21-day mandatory quarantine on entry.
These Ebola-related restrictions were announced by the Mauritius Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 15 June.
