La Paz Travel Guide
Bolivia
La Paz is a large, high-altitude city in western Bolivia, with a population of 1,935,619. It sits in the Andes and serves as one of Bolivia’s main urban and governmental centres, with the city spreading through a steep valley below the Altiplano.
Most international visitors arrive through El Alto International Airport (LPB), which serves La Paz from the neighbouring city of El Alto. La Paz is inland, so there are no notable beaches within 40 kilometres; trips here are focused on the Andean city and surrounding highland landscapes.
